IB.—More than 2,000, *00 children In Germany face starva tion this winter unless the outside world aids them with money and food. That Is the statement made at the headquarters of the Gorman central relief committee by Hans Gramm, di rector of the children's feeding organ ization, whose principal task is sav ing the youth of the crumbling Ger man nation. “The committee Is entirely out of funds,” Bald Gramm. “There Is not a penny In Its coffers. Hitherto the committee has been financed chiefly from America by the Hoover relief administration, the Quakers and by Americans of German descent. "Twelve million dollars have been distributed In four years, but last month the money ran out. Even be fore that only 500,000 of the 2,000,000 recommended by physicians to be taken care of could be fed.' “This winter the conditions are bound to become desperate. The catastrophic drop in the value of the mark has brought even larger sec tions of the people to the edge of starvation and has cut off possible native help to that extent. The col lapse of the mark has established what Is practically a blockade against the purchase of foreign foodstuffs be cause they cannot be paid for. "The specter of Russian conditions of the last year and those of Austria of two years ago hangs over Ger many this winter.” It Is estimated that fS,000,000 will fflave tens of thousands of young lives.
