Iowa Farm Notes. Ily AsMH-intfU Prni. Des Moines, la., Oct. 7.—Iowa farmers will profit to the extent of nearly $50,000 annually by the de cision of the interstate commerce commission that the carload minimum for hogs shall be reduced to 16,500 pounds on shipments in interstate traffic. The saving, on the 50,000 or 60,000 carloads of hogs shipped eaoji year by Iowa farmers, will be in,the neighborhood of $1 a car. It is esti mated. The Farm bureau is given much of the credit for bringing about the re duction in weight requirements. Increasing use of trucks for trans porting hogs to the Omaha yards is responsible for decision by stockyards officials to rearrange the hog block, and reduce the size of some of the pens to accommodate the smaller shipments. Th<’ secretary of agriculture and the state veterinarian have adviaed Iowa stock raisers that feeder sheep coming out of tlie South Omaha mar ket may be admitted without dipping, provided the purchaser obtains a per mit from the veterinarian and pur chases sheep from an area not under state or federal quarantine. The ani -V- - |muls must also he accompanied by a health certificate from the federal in spector. Many farmer*, of the south ern part of the state have objected re cently to the expense of dipping, which is 7 cents a head, and also to the loss of weight and danger from THE NEBBS—— That’s All There Is, There Isn't Any More._Directed for The Omaha Bee by Sol Hess I Although Betsy turned "Down Caleb REnROD'S OFFER OF MARRIAGE HE - STILL CALLS ON THE HEBBS ME IS NOT THE *ik»D OF ■ HAM TO ou»r at tme first * REBUFF » vm^aaaa ] ,9~? _ / CALEB, HOvaJ Do VOU LIKE THAT CmCKEN FR\CASSEE ?
