A statement was Issued Saturday
by the committee of five, Emmet Tin
ley, E. Crawford, H. A. Paulson^ R.
W. Besley and J. F. McCargar. ap
pointed at the meeting of creditors
of the Robert B. Wallace company
held Friday night at- the Chamber of
Commerce.
Representatives of more than 60
per cent of all the liabilities of the
company attended the meeting, the
statement says. Other details of the
committee's preliminary statement
follow:
"It appears from the accounting
had up to this time that the assets
available for the payment of creditors
exceed liabilities in an amount of
about $26,000. These assets consist
principally of real estate, mortgages
and real estate sales contracts.
Accountants At Work.
"It Is the opinion of a majority of
the creditors that the best interests
of all would be served by a conserva
tive management and the adoption of
some plan for the sale of the proper
i ties belonging to the company that
would produce the largest sum of
money.
i "Competent accountants are now at
work on the books of the company
and they will make a thorough audit,
also a complete examination of all
titles and will obtain a conservative
appraisement of the real estate.
"It is our belief that when this is
Completed we will be In a position to
present a plan that will provide for
an economical liquidation of the com
pany and a. correct financing that
will protect all properties from the
necessity of sacrifice.
Two Weeks Needed.
"We are advised • that this audit
require about two weeks’ time.
FW« are assured that all creditors who
have received security for past due
indebtedness will surrender such se
curities ted- the equal benefit of all
creditors. We will direct our atten
tion to the careful conservation of the
property with a view of protecting
the equal rights of every creditor,
large or small.
“All are equally Interested and we
trust that all will see the advisability
of a united effort to protect the In
terests of all alike. We will be pleased
to give any creditor all of the Infor
mation we possess at tiny time.
“As soon as the audit is completed
wo will call a meeting of creditors
and will see that each one receives
notice and we hope to able to pre
sent a feasible plan for the correct
handling of the properties.”

Baker, mayor of Portland, announced
his candidacy tonight for the repub
lican nomination for United States
senator from Oregon. He will oppose
Charles Tj. McNary, incumbent.
Politicians believe he will secure
the endorsement of the Ku Klux
Klan and the Federated Patriotic so
ciety, as his recent speeches have
nppeaied to tifeese organizations.
Baker has constantly championed
the compulsory school attendance bill,
already passed in Oregon, and in the
announcement of his candidacy ex
presses a hope that compulsory pub
lic school attendance will become uni
versal over the nation.

Chairman Says Third of
Quota Is Already
Raised.
According to John P. Davis, chair
man of the Japanese relief drive un
der the auspices of the Kcd Cross in
Council Bluffs, it is not probable that
any organized campaign will be. staged
to raise the quota of $1,500 assigned
to this city.
More than a thiird of this amount
has been raised in response to the re
quest for voluntary contributions, he
states, and it seems likely that the
entire amount will be forthcoming
without further solicitation.

Shows 342 Increase
Total enrollment in Council Bluff*
public school* Friday was 343 larger
than at the end of the first week of
school last year, according to the re
port of Superintendent Theodore
Saam, which shows 7,713 children In
attendance.

Bluffs Woman Says Mate
Has Threatened Her Life
Grace Miller Saturday filed suit In
district court at Council Bluffs
against George Miller, to whom she
was married In Omaha in 1920. They
separated on August 1, 1923, and she
alleges that he since has been follow
ing her, Interfering with her and
threatening her life. She asks a,re
straining order.
Divorce decrees granted yesterday
by Judge E. B. Woodruff were: Marie
T. Hurlbert, 19, from Dorman I. Hurl
bert, 22, Infidelity charged, and Sid
ney York, 31, from Ella Myrtle York,
26, similar charges. The case of Daisy
Bethers, 32, against Robert W. Beth
ers, 60, was taken under advisement
by the Judge.

Eighteen building permits issued
last week In the office of the city clerk
an Council Bluffs authorize a total
estimated expenditure of $34,626. Nine
of the permits are for new dwellings
at a total cost of $31,100, while the re
maining 11, totalling $3,425, are for
