Denver divided a double-header here
today, Denver winning the first, 2
to 1, and Omaha taking the second,
7 to 3. Speece, Omaha, pitched both
games, holding the locals to six hits
in each contest.

Chicago. July 8—The actual mov
ing pictures of the Dempsey-Gibbous
15-round boxing bout at Shelby July
4 are now at Los Angeles, according
to informatior^obtalned by the Depart
ment of Justice agents who have
watched for the films here, it was
learned today.
Lo# Angeles, July 8.—Department of
Justice agents said today they were
watching for moving pictures of the
Dempsey-Glbbons bout which they be
ltevert were being brought to Los An
geles. They said they had no infor
mation that the pictures had already
arrived.

congratulations were sent today by
the Olympic club of San Francisco
and the California Lawn Tennis asso
ciation to William M. Johnston, who
won the world’s tennis championship
on turf courts at Wimbledon. John
ston, it was said, played under the
Olympic club's colors.
Johnston recently won the world's
championship on hard courts at St.
Cloud, France. He made the trip to
Europe Independently, not being sent
by any organized tennis association.
This was hia second try for the
world's title at Wimbledon. In 1020
he was defeated by J. Cecil Parke.
Tennis experts say Johnston Is
playing the best tennis of his career
Known as “Little Bill” because of his
weight, 125 pounds, he often lacked
endurance. During the last winter he
added 10 pounds to his weight and
^this has Increased hit. strength but
has not Interfered with his speed on
the court*.

Canadian Tracks to Close
Montreal, July 8. — Cloning of the
Kempton park race track today on the
fourth day of what was to have been
a seven-day meeting, because of slim
crowds and poor lotting may result In
other tracks following suit, prominent
Canadian racing authorities said.
Several tracks will not open thel!
gates when the dates for scheduled
meets come around, these authorities
predicted.
The traces In this province have
been operated at a loss, it was said,
because the provincial government
has not cut taxes aa promised. The
jockey dubs threatened some time
ago to close the tracks If taxes were
not cut by July 1.

American flyiweght champion, won
the newspaper decision on points in
the 10-round main bout of the Milk
and Ice Fund boxing show Saturday,
defeating Tony Norman of Pittsburgh.
Genaro weighed 11112 pounds and
Norman 114 pounds.
It *rj a fast light, with Genaro
showing good form, but Norman, a
novice, put up a surprising battle.
Genaro was credited with taking six
rounds and Norman four. Norman's
ability to reach Genaro’s Jaw with
hard leftH brought him applause from
the big crowd. When Genaro left
the ring he took with him a cut on
the nose. Norman was ur.marked
Carl Tremaine of Cleveland. 118 14
pounds, knocked out Pete Zivlc of
Pittsburgh. 115 1-2 pounds, with a
right to the Jaw, In the seventh
round of a scheduled 10 round bout.

Far Roekaway, N. Y, July 8—Ab
a prelude to the momentous national
open golf championship which starts
on Monday at the Inwood Country
club links, an eastern golf team com
posed of nationally known amateurs
and professionals defeated a western
team by n score of 9 points to J. The
points were computed under the Nas
-au system, which allows one point
for the best score on the first nine
holes, one point for the best score on
the second nine holes and one point
for the match.
Walter Hagen, who made a vain
effort Rt Troon to recapture the Brit
ish open championship, made the best
individual score, leading with a (8
for the 18 holes. Hagen was a mem
ber of the eastern team Gene Si ra
zee, American open champion, also
on theeastern team, made a 71. The

The records were turned In by

Miss Bauer broke her own world's
record for swimming 150 yards back
stroke, her time being 2 minutes

Dillon, driven by Thomas Murphy,
Syracuse, N. Y., repeated her victory
at the last August meeting here in
the free-for-all pace yesterday, over
