Grand Island “Hercules” Loses His Leg in Accident Grand Island, Nab., June 22.—Ruth M. Gunn, laborer for a local paving contractor, perhaps will never repeat some of his herculean performances. As a result of the flying off from its shaft of a starting crank on a cement mixing machine, and subae quent burns from asphalt, the ampu tation of Ounn’s left left half way below the knee became necessary. When the cement supply occasion ally ran short, Gunn * arried a 100 pound Rack under each arm, one In each hand and one In hie teeth, a total of 500 pounds. He stated he could have carried more If he had a place to put another sack. He ex pecta to return to hla former occupa tion of range riding. He is an ex> service man who enlisted from St. Joseph. .
