    Wireless Waves to Control Tide
of Traffic on English Derby Day
By t'nlvenml Service.
London, June 1.—Wireless waves
will control the Immense tide of traf
fic that will roll Into Epsom for the
derby June 6.
This most famous of all English
race classics, which is attended by
hundreds of thousands of race fans
from all over the kingdom, brings to
gether the greatest crowd that at
tends any public entertainment In
Great Britain.
The king and queen will be there
with all the members of the
royal family who are in England on
that day. It is a national holiday
of the year. \
From a box in the grandstand one
man will see just what is happening
to the streams of vehicles for 20
miles around. The trek to Epsom be
gins the night before the race and
from dawn until the classic is run
there is a steady influx by all roads.
This man will see through the eyes
of his wireless scouts, some of whom
will be flying over the course and
others touring the approaches In
automobiles. Each will be In direct
communication with the “master
eye.”
Colonel Laurie of the British air
ministry, who is in charge of wireless
communication at the course, declares
that this will be the first time that
wireless has ever been used in this
manner in England.
