College Women Best Housewives So Asserts Professor of Social Economics at University of California. Berkeley,. Cal., May 7.—College 1 women make the best housewives. So declared Dr. Jessica Peixotto, profes sor of social economics at the Uni versity of California. She based her contention on the theory that the education received by a woman grad uated from college enables her to run her household on the most etH eient and scientific basis and also gives her a mote appreciative out look of the real partnership of matri mony. “College training is a definite asset to married life,” said Dr. l’eixotto. “Contrary to popular opinion, the col lege woman is more deeply interested in her household because of her col lege training. The education she had received enables her to run her household on tjie most efficient and scientific basis. “The college woman is interested in the community as it affects home life, and she is prepared to serve both homo and community intelligently. “Marriage between college trained individuals should result in ideal partnerships. Both parties appre ciate the intelligence of the other, and pay tribute tp it by regarding marriage as a. row! partnership. In this idea! combination, there is a free working toward common aims rather than any headship. The woman, as well as the man. is able to meet and cope with existing conditions, no mat ter how'adverse. “1 don't claim that marriages ho tween college trained men and wom en are the only happy ones, yet I be lieve tluit proportionately such mar should be and are more sue* cessful." .flCol.
