Priced 2.95 to 25.00 |i|| Second rloor Shall It Be Nineteen “Plenty-Three?" | The year 1923 finds this country progres sing on the long pull toward healthful prosperity, in spite of the fact that so much of the rest of the world scorns up side down or wrong end to. Here in America—a land blessed by free dom from pestilence and war and social turmoil—employment is general, construe tion is on the increase, transportation facilities are im proving and the farmer will obtain more for his crop this year than lie received last year. A famous Nebraskan gave to political literature at least one phrase that will live. He said: “Destroy your cities and leave our farms and your cities will spring up again as though by magic. Destroy our farms and the grass will grow in the streets of your cities.” Let’s all be thankful that in cities as well as on farms the indications are many for a “Nineteen Plenty-Three.” Let’s not forget, either, that there is constructive work to be done in the thoughts of men in cities as well as on farms. It is the task of cultivating thoughts of hope and faith and charity. The greatest of these is charity—that charity which dissolves racial, religious and all other petty thoughts and prejudices in its eternal solvent. Let’s quit thinking, then, of business disasters and social turmoils, of individual weaknesses and petty strifes and turn our attention to right thinking which is always con structive. Let’s begin this great work by cultivating thoughts of deep and sincere gratitude for the bright promises, in eity and country alike, that this is to be, in Ldeed, the year of “Nineteen Plenty-Three.” _ J.
