MARKET, FINANCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL NEWS OF THE DAY __J Omaha Grain Omaha, March 2i. Total receipts at Omaha were 100 cars, against 82 cars last year. To tal shipments, 97 cars, against 8G cars a year ago. Cash wheat on the Omaha market ! was in very good demand, sales be- i ing to lc higher. Corn was steady, unchanged to Co higher. Oats were I unchanged to he higher, being gen erally he higher. Rye was quoted 1 cent higher and barley unchanged. Liverpool wheat cables this morn ing displayed surprising strength and a better demand was noted from ! both the United Kingdom and con tinental Europe. Chicago future mar ket opened at a substantial advance but quickly sold off on profit taking s ties, but on the decline houses with foreign connections became good buy ers and there were reports of a con tinued export demand. After a sharp rally values again sold off. declines teaching to around last night's clos ing on wheat and oats and some what lower oil corn, with a slight re action at the close. By rnlmiwl Senkp. Chicago, March 21.—Heavy selling of wheat credited to leading longs arrested the early bulge today, prices reacting sharply but closing with moderate gains. News was quite favorable to holders and the dip was the result of the influential selling which uncovered an overbought con dition. Wheat closed 1-8 to l-2e higher: corn was 14 to l-2c off. oats were unchanged to 1-Sc down: rye ruled 3-8r ndvanccd and barley closed un changed. • • Short* (our. Corn was lowered for the day under liberal selling that was attributed to lead ing holder* News on this cram was gen erally favorable for the bulls, but the market did not. respond. Oats acted fairly steady during the early trade, but the break in wheat took th« edge off the grtin. Loral traders pressed rye In hard spot*, hut the improved commission house de mand managed to carry prices up for the day. The most gratifying developments were the broadening of speculation and invest ment in tho steel and telephone shares.
