Post Discusses Labor Problem ' Interests of Employes ami Em ployers Almost Identical, Says Economist. Louis F. Post of Washington, D. C., ■' onomist and lecturer, who has been •liking before various organizations nf the city under the auspices of the Unitarian Church Laymen's league, touched on relations between em ployes and employers during his talk •i' the Unitarian church at 8 last night. "I contend that the hired men and the employers should not be separated ; ito two classes,” said Mr. Post yes terday. "Their interests are almost identical, and what is bad for employ • rs is equally bad for employes.” Amplifying his theory that the pres ent system of taxing the individual :dl he can afford to pay is confisca i ry, Mr. Post asserted taxes should e levied on the basis of the amount ■ f good the community or government o i s for the person.taxed. The amount ■ f tax levied tinder this system would I" measured by the value of the land, natural resources, owned by the per son taxed. This can’t be done over night,” said Mr. l’ost. "Ry mixing artificial nd natural resources under the title of real estate, however, considerable confusion has resulted. Taxes should be shifted gradually from the house i to the site. In Pittsburgh, under a 'graded’ tax law, this Is being done, i Under this law, by 1925 artificial Im provements in Pittsbsrgh will be taxed 1 in ratio to the land on which they stand as 50 per cent is to 100 per cent. Civic and labor organizations of Pitts burgh seem to favor a continuation of this reduction on the tax on artificial property until it will be cut down to a nominal 1 per cent.” Imperial Couple Observe 50 Years of Wedded Life Imperial, Neb., Feb. 2. — (Social.)— Judge and Mrs. James Burke cele brated their 50th wedding anniver sary at the home of their son.
