Cudahy Salesmen
in Annual Meet
at Omaha Plant
Christmas Tree and Presents
Feature of Gathering —
Hold livening Banquet
at Athletic Club.
Annual meeting of repi eaentatives
of the sales department of the Omaha
territoiy of Cudahy A Co. was held
yesterday afternoon in the athletic
auditorium of the local plant, which
was decorated In Yuletlde trimmings
There waa a big Christmas tree and
every visitor was given a present.
The local management of the com
D*ny had on exhibit a display of
meats and meat products and souve
nirs were distributed. At noon din
ner was served and ths afternoon
was spent in a tour over the plant.
In the evening a banquet waa served
•for the visitors In the Athletic club
lining room, after which four boxing
exhibitions were staged, the first for
eight rounds, between Kid French ->t
Central City and Mike Rozgall of
South Omnlm. The main event was
followed by s six round go between
fcJrwin Rlge and Ralph Spellman, both
of Omaha; a six round go between
Harry Klnnear of South Omaha and
Clark Connors of Sioux City, and a
six-round match between, Sid Sycklln
of Lincoln and SI Sanduge of Sioux
City.
The entertainment and program
wee carried out under the direction
of C. A. Stewart, J. M. Stafford, P.
J. Sheehey, W. M. Nlelnen. J. T, Bell
and H. R. Voss of the local plant.

Swift & Co. Meat Exhibit
A luncheon was given yesterday
noon by the Omaha Livestock ex
change in the exchange dining room
to representatives of the executive
and agricultural committee* and
members of the Omaha Chamber of
Commerce preliminary to a visit to an
exhibit of meats and meat products
at the Swift ft Co. plant.
The exhibit coneisted of products
that had passed government inspec
tions and some which had been con
demned. Lectures were made by Dr.
I., Van T>, head of the veterinarian
department of the University of Ne
breaks: W. T. Spencer, livestock
commissioner of the Omaha Livestock
exchange; Dr. II. R. Smith, livestock
commissioner of the National Live
stock exchange of Chicago, and Dr.
H. Busman, head of the federal meat
Inspection in the South Omaha plants.
In the forenoon over 100 salesmen
of tha local Swift A Co. plant held
their annual business meeting at the
plant and in the evening a banquet
was given them by officials of the
company at tha Fontenell* hotel.
Boy Playing in Street
Run Down by Motorist
While chasing a tumbleweed in the
street at Twenty-first and Washing
ton streets yesterday afternoon, John
Popplno, li, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Michael Popplno. rout* B, Sarpy coun
ty, was run down by an unidentified
motorist.
The driver of the sutomohlle, which
bore an Iowa license plate, picked up j
the youngater and carried him into
the Maple avenue apothecary shop
where police were called. Then he 1
departed.
Dr. A. J. Young ordered the boy ,
taken to the emergency hospital at
South Omaha police headquarters
where an examination revealed he had
suffered only abrasions of the right
knee and acratches on the right aide
of the face.
Police have (he number of the auto
mobile.
Sons of Herman to Hold
Entertainment Tonight
South Omaha lodge No. 33, Sons ot
Herman, will hold ite annual Chrtat
mat tree entertainment this evening
at * at South Side Turner hall. Eight
tenth and Vmton streets.
A musical and llterarv program will
be given and fut.ta Claus will have a
gift for each child present Dancing
will close the entertainment.
Turners to Celebrate.
Tomorrow evening the South Side
Turners will hold a New Year's eve
celebration at their hall. Eighteenth
and Vinton etreete, for the members
and their families. Refreshments will
he served and the Turners will dance
the old year out and the new year in.
