Omaha Man Hears
Boston, Hawaii
Local Radio Set Enables
Father to Hear His
Daughter Sing.
J. M. Johnston and his son, f'loyn
Johnston, have been having unusual
success with their radio outfit, one
which young Johnston built entire
ly himself, both transmitter and re
ceiver. Wednesday evening a man
named Squires, from Broken Bow,
Neb,, came and asked Mr. Johnston if
he could hear Boston on his set.
Mr. Squires' daughter was giving a
concert in Boston that evening, and
he had gone to Lincoln only to he
told that they had no set there strong
enough to pick up the eastern sta
tion.
Mr. Johnston had never received
station WNAE in Boston before,
but after about 20 minutes of tuning
he succeeded in getting them on a
360 meter wave length, and Mr.
Squires was able to hear his daugh
ter sing for nearly 45 minutes.
Tuesday evening the Johnstons
picked up botli Halifax in Nova Sco
tia, und Regina in Saskatchewan,
Canada. A week ago last Saturday
they heard Honolulu broadcast a con
cert on 400 meters. This was the
first time so far as they know, that
Omaha has listened in on Hawaii.
Although Mr. Johnston's set has two
steps of both radio and audio fre
quency amplification, he finds It ne
cessary to use only the radio fre
quency most of the time.

Service—Without a
Service Charge!
That’s rare, these days.
U But that’s what you get—real time-and-money-saving
service—when you turn to the little ads in the “Want”
Ad section of The Omaha Bee.
And the only thing it costs you is the few minutes'
time i ttakes each day to look over these opportunities
for thrift and satisfaction.
fl If someone told you where you could find exactly the
sort of place you want to live, or where you could buy
some housefumishings you need at a big saving, etc.—
you’d call that service.
And when The Omaha Bee “Want” Ads tell you these
things and scores of others that you want to know all
the time, that’s service—and then some!
1i And, if you want to insert an ad of your own call
At-lantic 1000 and ask for a “Want” Ad taker.
Omaha Bee “Want" Ads Bring
Better Results at Lesser Cost.
