Mr. Childe presented Omaha's ob
jection to the continuance of the con
trol of the Cctitial Pacific; railroad
by the Southern Pacific.
Mr. Childo explained the Omaha
Chamber of Cnrnmeice has taken a
sliirul against mergers of railroads
which will lend to end Omaha's career
as a terminus and force running of
western lines to St. Louis or Chicago
to meet pastern lines as tho proposed
mergers seem to provide for.
Hearings on mergers of northern
lines will be h'ld Inter, Mr. Childe
indicated, at which communities may
enlor their protests.
