The N'ational Federation of Music
flub is making a campaign drive
throughout the United States for a
Itrt'er club membership in its organ
ization. This drive is being carried
! in honor of the 70th birtkdav of
Mrs. Theodore Thomas, honorary
president and founder of the federa
tion. The association will also hold
iu biennial contests in voice, violin
i and piano again this year. These
contests are open to American-trained
musicians under 30 years of age, ac
cording to information received from
Helen Harrison Mills, 12(H) Colum
bia Terrace, Peoria, III. Within the
next few months prizes will be
awarded in the competitions for the
many different kinds of musical com
positions by American composers
which are sponsored by the federa
tion. The competition for a musical
setting for the libretto for. the Lyric
dance drama, "Pan in America," by
Robert Francis Allen, is still open.
All prize winning compositions will
be performed at the Asheville con
vention, and the national winners will
also appear there.
The Glenn Dillard Gunn School of
Music and Dramatic Art sent an an
nouncement to this office recently.
