Pistol Is Found

Probe of Double Murder of
Church Rector and Choir
Leader Is Nearing End.
New Brunswick, N. J., Sept. 20.
(By A. P. Discovery of the pistol
with which Rev. F.dward Wheeler
Hall, rector of the Church of St. John
the Evangelist, and his young choir
leader, Mrs. Eleanor Keinhardt Mills,
were Slain brought the investigation
of the mysterious double murder near
its close last night.
Earlier in the day detectives had
come into possession of a woman's
handkerchief, pierced with what ap
peared to be bullet holes. The hand
kerchief had been picked tip near the
spot on the abandoned Phillips farm
in Somerset county, where the bodies
of the rector and Mrs. Mills were
found. Ownership of this lacebound
square if it can be established may
furnish valuable evidence in support
of the theory that a man and a
woman together surprised the min
ister and Mrs. Mills and that one of
the two slew them after a struggle
between the two women.
Nearly all day long, save for a
brief respite while they attended the
simple funeral of Mrs. Mills, the
slain woman's husband, James Mills,
and her daughter, Charlotte, were
closeted with officials in Prosecutor
Sticker's office, undergoing a mi
nute examination, When they were
dismissed, Assistant Prosecutor Too
lan said that Mills "was definitely
out of it'' and was under no sus
picion whatever.
Mrs. Hall, wealthy widow of the
slain clergyman, and her brother,
William Stevens, had been summoned
to appear after Mills .and his daugh
ter, but they later were informed

Parents' Problems
How can punctuality best be taught
to children?
It is well to drill the unpunttual
child by causing him to consult the
clock frequently in order to deter
mine the length of time necessary to
do a certain thing. Let him "guess"
at the time it has taken and then
compare his guess with the actual
length of time. In this way he is led
to give more attention to the passing
of the hours and to the fact that "time
is fleeting." A heroic measure which
is almost sure to break up the habit
of unpunctuality is to deprive the
child of pleasures for which he is not
on hand at the appointed hour.
