The Oilers made the icore 6 to S when they scored a man in the sixth. The Buffaloes came near making the count read 7 to 5 in the eighth, when Apperson got his third hit of the name, a triple. He was the first man up, but the next three Buffaloes were easy outs and the "Jack Rabbit" was left stranded on third. Lyman Lamb started the fire works in the ninth that spelled de feat for Omaha. Lamb was held up at third by the coach and for a lime it looked as if Omaha would win the game, when, all of a sudden, Stuart drove the ball down Gislason-way. "Whitey" got his mitts on the pellet, but put on a jug gling act that permitted Lamb and Bauinan to score and Tulsa to win a game, Whitewashea Herd. In the second game, I'itcher'Mc Laughlin applied a coat of white wash to the Buffaloes, beating the herd, 6 to 0. In whitewashing the Buffaloes, McLaughlin had the sup port of each and every one of the other eight Oilers. He let the herd down with six scattered hits, and only twice during the Ranie did the Buffaloes see third base, once in the cigltth and again in the ninth. . Joe Dailey hurled the first four and one-third innings for the Buf faloes. These four and one-third in nings were enough. During Dailey's reign be was touched for three runs .nil six hits. Darrough relieved Joe, but didn't do any better than his teammate, the Oilers nicking the midget Buffalo for the same number of runt and hits. Gene Sarazen to Play Hagen for Title Pittsburgh, Aug. 20. ' An nouncement was made today that Harry Oswald, pitcher; Leo Taylor, shortstop.' nd Tom Jovick, first baseman, playing on teams in the lo cal Mines baseball league, have signed contracts to report at the Chicago American training camp next spring. Oswald had a tryout last spring with the Salt Lake City coast league team; Taylor was with the Tacoma Pacific-International until the circuit was disbanded, and Jo vick has played only with Butte teams and with Gonzaga university. "Hippo" Hodges Sold to Chicago National Club Jonlin, Mo., Aug. 20. "Hippo" Hodges, star left hander of the Jop lin team of the Western association and one of the leading players of the league, has been sold to the Chicago team of the National league, it was announced today by Kay Winder, president of the local club. "Hap" Malone Knocks Out Berry in Fifth Round Webster City, la., Aug. 20. (Spe cial Telegram.) "Happy" Malone, Omaha welterweight, knocked out Jack Berry of Mason City, la., in the fifth round of a scheduled eight round bout. Malone had the best of the fight up to the end.
