Good Ball for Sis Inning Ma. nuth Gets Home Run. By RALPH WAGNER. Out mighty home run over the right field fence by Bennett in the eventh in n i n g enabled the Tulsa Oilen to grab the (irit game of the eriet with the Omaha Buffaloes at league park yesterday after noon. The tcore wan 4 to J. With the Oilers trailing, 2 to J, in the seventh, and the tying run on second, this bird Bennett po litely spanked the ball on the nose and sent it sailing out of the nark for his aevenieenth homer of the sea son. This little hunk of stick work on the part of Bennett decided a pitchers' battle in favor of Carl Black and Lelivelt's Oilers After hurling good ball for six In nings, "Big Biir Fincher felt the effects of the heat in the seventh in ning and withered down to where the Tulsa sluggers got to hhn for four runt and live hits, enough of the for tner to win the game. During the first half dozen frames, "Big Bill" struck out six Oilers and allowed w four hits. Only one Oiler east past first base In the first six innings. Black on Mound. Carl Black, better known to West ern league fans as just plain "Grunt" Black, was Manager Jack Lelivelt's choice for slab duty. "Grunt" held the Buffaloes to six hits, one of these being a homer by Manush his 13th of the'season. Coupled with Black's hurling was dandy support. Heinie Manush and his trusty bat cored the first Omaha tally in the fourth.' After Gislason grounded out, Apperton collected a double. Gran- .k,M Me Al,ntr1 eif anrl ttlM"TarV Rabbit took third. Fatal Seventh. Everything was settin' pretty for the Buffaloes until the fatal seventh, Stuart was the? first ' Oiler to face Fincher, and he celebrated the occa sion by getting a single. McGinnis also singled, advancing Stuart. ' Mct Ginnis came to bat and doubled, scor ing Stuart. At this stage of the game, Fincher started withering. Crosby then doubled and McGinnis went to third. The Buffalo hurler continued to wobble as Black strolled to the plate and cracked out a single to center, scoring McGinnis.' Crosby attempted to race home on the single, but a little quick work on the part of Fincher caught the Oiler at the plate. Apperson. in whippin' the ball home, threw wide of the plate. Black took second on the throw, but Crosby failed to make the home station be fore Fincher scooped up the tall and made the throw to Spencer. Ben nett's homer with Black on second won the game. Newspaper critics are divided on the outcome of the boxing bout tonight between Johnny . Mendelsohn, local light weight, and lommy (J mien ot Los Angeles. Some thought Mendelsohn deserved a shade and others credited O'Brien with the better of the fight. Each boxer accused the other of hit ting too low in the fourth and fifth rounds and after the bout was over the rtfrree said unofficially that un fair tactics, such as butting, were re sorted to by both boxera towards the end of the contest. O'Brien bled from the mouth in the third and fourth rounds, and Mendelsohn took some severe body blows. While the boys engaged in several hot mix tips, both were apparently strong at the finish.
