Donald didn't strike out as many as
Tipple, but he had far better control
and a curve ball that the Buffaloes
failed to connect with. "Mac" worked
the entire nine innings and allowed
but five hits, all of them being of the
scattered variety.
Dan Tipple hurled for the Buf
faloes. The husky Buffalo was truob-
led with the heat or something, for
he allowed the Witches eleven hits,
of which three were doubles. He
walked six Witches and walked 'em
11 at the wrong time. He struck out
eight of Isabell's. athletes and suc
ceeded in wnfhng the mighty Eeast,
home run king of the Western league,
three times.
Score in First
The Witches scored one.in the first
and shoved two runs across the pan
in the fourth on a base on balls, two
singles and a Buffalo bobble. A base
on balls, error and Mcuonaid s
double resulted in another Wichita
tally in the sixth and in the eighth
the 1921 champs registered two scores
on a single, sacrifice, McDowell s
double and a single.
In the sixth inning, with three men
on, McDonald doubled. Blakesley
scored, but Manda and McDowell
were both caught at the ulate. Man-
a was "on second and McDonald on
rst when McDonald clouted out his
double to center Manush whipped
e ball to Catcher Spencer who tag-
d the two Wichita runners at the
ate.
Manush's triple in the fourth in-
ninp- paved the way for the first
Omaha score. The Buffalo center
fielder scored a minute later on Begr
er's error. The Buffaloes started a
rally m the eighth, but only one run
was eased across the rubber and
Omaha lost the first game.
Dad Gregory labored through
e second game for the Witches and
was treated roughly by the Buf
faloes in the first inning.
Buffaloes Score Five.
In the first spasm, Gregory was
eked for three singles and a double.
These blows coupled with a base on
balls and Gregory's bobble caused
five Buffaloes to score. During the
ght innings Gregory toiled, he per
mitted the Buffaloes to swat out
eleven hits, one of these being a
homer by Manush.
Toe Dailey pitched for Omaha and
was nicked frequently. Re received
good support at the proper times al
though one Buffalo error resulted in
the final Wichita tally in the ninth.
Besides hurling Gregory copped
the batting honors of the afternoon
for Wichita. "Dad poled out a
home run with one on in the fifth
inning and his double in the sixth
scored the 'fourth run for his team.
Maftush's homer over the right-
field fence in the fifth session was
the run that won the game . for
