Chicago, July 14. The rail strike
situation was regarded as mora sen
ous. The bulge of the previous day
materially cut down the local short
interest and telling by the north
west and local longs made an easier
undertone in wheat. Cloaing trades
were within fraction of the bottom
at net lossei of l,'(iltc. Corn was
strong on a resumption of export
business. It closed unchanged to
he higher, while oats were C
lower and rye on ic.
Black rust developments in the
northwest were not of a kind to in
duce free buying. Instead houses
with northwestern connections were
on the selling tide and at no time
was there aggressive support in
wheat. Fair and warmer weather
prevailed over the winter wheat belt
and hedging pressure is rapidly in
creasing, being a factor at the open'
ing. forecast suggested cooler in
the northwest Saturday, which would
be unfavorable for rust development

Little attention waa paid to reports that
the Wabash had emharcoed loadtntt of
rain down etate or that a tpreadlnf of
the rail strike waa likely. Export da

lower, with good quality hoga moving at a

of 110.45. Good quality medium weight
