B. itatilda Taylor was born in Sul-
'llivan county, Indiana, on July 3, 1839.
On Dpcember 6, 1845, the family
moverf-to Rockwell, Kankakee county,
Illinois and on November 21, 1857 at
Joliet, Illinois, she was united in
marriage to Daniel G. Grice. To this
union was born five children Will,
dying in infancy and Fred at the age
of 3 years, while his father was in
the Civil War service. H. E. Grice,
now residing at Arcadia, California,
F. J. Grice of this, city and Mrs.
Mary L. Rutlcdge of Inavale survive

Mrs. Grice is the third of the guests
of the Sunset Social held last fall, to
pas3 away. She was the oldest
woman present on that occasion, and
was, one of the earliest settlers of
the divide nortwest of the city,, where
with,, her husband and children she
resided for many years. In 1882 she
taught school in District 65.

public through her husband and chil
dren. Her husband served with credit
as county supervisor during the peri
od when the county was under town
ship organization. After his death,
in 1892, Mrs. Grice, with her two
sMis, Herbert and "Flave," and
daughter, Mary, removed to this city,
where the boys became engaged in
the drug business.
It is not too much to 8ay that there
is no man in Red Cloud who has a
larger place in the affections of the
pe?ple of this neighborhood than her
son, "Flave."
At this moment all hearts are
touched with sympathy for him who
I shielded and comforted the last years
of his mother's life and gave her all
the respect due to a mother and the
affection a parent lavishes upon a
child.
Her daughter Mrs. John Rutledge,
has been a frequent, and at nil times,
a willing and efficient nssistant.
At the age of 10 years Mrs. Grice
united with the Methodist church, re
maining in this faith until her mar-
husband in membership with the
.United Brethren. In the latter years
,of her life, however, she became a
member of the Grace Episcopal
church, at which plnce funeral scrv

family. Music by band and orchestra.
DINNER
1:30 p. m. band music and old set
t'ers reunion in Besse Auditorium,
where everybody will be treated to a
feast of speech and music of the old
time variety; 4:30 Fiddlers' contest
for fiddlers over 45 years of age.
All the f'ddlers in th'13 contest to
be eligible for the Big Fiddlin' con
