Monday five more, making nineteen,
passed through this place enroute for
Oregon. They settled in Southern
Kansas two or three years ago, and be
coming sick of the country, have start

E. Peters, of South Guide Rock, call
ed on Saturday last, and brings the
usual report of lino growiug crops and
general prosperity. Mr. Peters Informs
us that he will teach the school In dis

have settled in his neighborhood this
spring.
Immigration is still pouring in, and
every day long strings of cotton cover
ed wagons pass along the great route
of travel which passes through our
town. Many of these stop and pur
chase railroad laud In this vicinity,
while others push on to where home
stead claims are more plenty. We are
informed that good claims can yet be
had In nianv parts of the county,
though as a matter of course, it is
next to Impossible to find any with
timber and running water. Aside
from the9u drawbacks the land Is as
good as any the sun shone upon.

Sunday about twenty of Superior
golf players drove to Red Cloud to play
in the seven town tournament which
has recently been formed, consisting
nf Superior, Rod Cloud, Franklin,
Heaver City. Arapahoe, Campbell and
Orleans.
Superior played to good luck and tho
low scores were made by our players.
Two loving cups are up in competition,
one for ladies and one for men. Each
town that wins has the scoro placed on
the cups, and when the contest is over
the cups remain the property of the
winning club, Mrs. II. C. Hanua won
in Sunday's game with a scoro of fifty
for nine holes. O. R, Marshall won
for the men, shooting 18 holes with a

The average Nebraska farm woman
can cut her annual clothing hill in
half by making her own clothing from
new or renovated materials according
to Clothing workers oi the Agricu -turnl
College lSxtons'on Service.
Scho's in dress construction, dress
forms, short cuts, in sewing and in
millinery have been brought within
reach of thirty six communities with
in the first two months of 1023. Six
hundred and thirty house-wives at
tended these schools to learn fr them
selves how this work can be done.
These women will carry the informa
tion on into their neighborhood
through schools in which they will
serve as teachers instead of pupils.
Other women taught by them, in turn,
conduct schools in smaller neighbor
hoods, thus making the endless chain
of instruction.
This well organized system is but
an extension of the project plans used
last year. Recorded results show that
almost six thousand women made
their own dress forms in demonstra
tions last year. Over four thousand
women were reached by the instruc
tion in the use of time saving devices
and methods. One great problem con
fronting farm women especially is
the lack of time for sewing. These
short cuts in sewing, as they are call
ed by Extension workers, makes nn
hour or two worth more than n day's
time with old methods. Sixteen him
died lints were made in schools held
Inst year. It is estimated that $8,
000 or an average of $5 per hat was
saved through this work. Actuul dress
construction was supervised in thirty
eight communities with over a thou
sand women in attendance at the
schools. In each of these projects the
goal of achievement get by extension
workers at the beginning of the 1922
year was reached and passed.
