ers live stock marketing committee

which will have charge of the nation
al live stock marketing organization.

section of the convention Mrs. Ciias.
Schuttler of Farmington, Missouri,
lias agreed to bo on hand. Mrs.

Bureau, one man and one woman.
Recent newspaper dispatches from
Washington to a Nebraska daily
newspaper quotes Eugene Meyer Jr.,
of tho war finance corporation as say
ing that tho Nebraska farmers them
selves are to blame, 'if they have not
received their production of war fi
nance money. "Somebody has been
badlv misinformed," says If. D. Lute,
secretary of the Nebraska Farm Bur
eau Federation,1 "when this statement
wr. culled to his attention. When the
war finance corporation was re ur
rcctrd Nebraska farmers by the hun
dreds with ample security went to
their banks only to find that there
was quantities of red tape and slate
limitations that prevented their get
ting loans in proportion to surround
ing states." "This," ho says, "was no-
i body's fault in particular, unless cer
tain bankers might have wanted to
discourage the influx of cheaper
money, and most of the trouble is
being ironed out, but so far as tho
Nebraska farmer being to blame cith
er from lack of desire or lack of
ample security it is all a mistake."
Mr. Lute later communicated with
members of the war finance commit
tee nnd found that their ideas coincid
ed with his own.
The endorsement of the St. Lawrence-Great
Lakes waterway "project
by the national convention of Ameri
can Farm Bureau Federation last
week at Atlanta, Georgia, is largely
duY to the efforts of tho middle wes
tern delegates headed' by II. D. Lute,
O.Tel nvv 01 tno iseovasKii rann iui
eau Federation who represented this
state. Naturally this project which
won''' brirg ocean going vessrls into
the Chicago port is going to he the
greatest benefit to the shippers cast
oT t''r Rorkv mountrins and around
n-,d west of Chicago. In the origin
al draft of the resolution presented
to the convention a moio endorsement
of "inland waterways" was as far as
the subject was, handled and it was
onlv after a figh't on the floor bv the
middle western men that the Great
Lakes project was finally specifically
brought to tho fore.
Annual meetings of county Farm
Bureaus throughout tho state are bc
Jntr Tiolrf ihirine tho first two weeks
of this month for the purpose of elect
ing tho county boards and also for
tho election of delegates to the state
convention to be held at Lincoln
January 4-Fi-G. In nearly every in
stance the county conventions have
been attended by enthusiastic audi
ences, but, according to a representa
tive of state headquarters who has
nt tor ded several of these meetings.
the outstanding feature is that tho.-e
attending tho meetings have definite
plans in mind and arc putting their
shoulders to tho wheel for definite
Uiivnnena. "Til fir attitude." he SUVS,
"is not ono that registers tho infer
ence that they know Rome things are
wmiw but tbov don't know what to
do, but on tho other hand their ap-
iinnvnncA .i that of 111011 who kllOW
what is wrong and u!o what they
have in mind to remedy the evil. It
is the case now of the farmer know
ing what ho is talking about."
