Franklin, Ncbr., July 19. The
coioncr's jury ictumed n verdict that
D. S. Bingham of .Lansing, Mich., who
was killed Sunday morning on cxtia
freight J089 past bound, came to his
death by being shot by someone un
known. The freight! was in charge of
Kngincor Cox and was running be
tween Republican City and Naponec.
His body was found on top of ,1 stock
car, nine cars in fiont of the caboose.
Rigliam was n member of hod car
riers union number 331, Lansing,
Mich. When found lie had travelers
checks in the sum of $40. It is be
lieved that he- had been working ir'
the Kansas harvest fields. He was
shot thru tho heart and wns not
robbed as he had $3.C0 in change on
his person. Tho motive of killing is
not known.
Soon after tho train left tho yards
at Republican City, J. F. Waugh
hoard shots fired. There were about
seventy-five to 100 bums and I. W.
W. man in tho yards and on tho train
when it pulled out. Several witnesses
were held up by three mnskod men
in Republican City at the point of a
gun. A number of I. W. W. were
known to be on the train. Tiie body
of Ringham was brought to Franklin
and turned over to Sheriff R. F.
Walker. The coroner's inquest by C.
K. btanenka, county attorney, was

the train were held to testify nt tho
inquest. Two had I. W. W. cards.
A telegram was sent to the union at
Bingham's home at Lansing, Mich. An
answer was received that tho matter
would receive immediate attention.
