The meeting Tuesday ufternoon was
nttended by tho Township Project
Leaders on Cost of Production. E. L.
Taylor, Extension Specialist from the
Farm Management Department was
present and showed how to figure tho
cost of wheat, corn, etc. Ho used
wheat as an illustration. Each town
ship in tho county will keep n few
records on wheat, com, oats and hogs.
Dan Garbcr who just returned from
Lincoln where ho attended the meet
ing of representatives of the various
iuvm organizations to hear the re
port of tho Committee of Seventeen
on tho marketing grain, gave n brief
report which was very interesting.
Tho Committeo of Seventeen is a
committee appointed and financed by
the American Farm Bureau Federa
tion. The Committeo of Seventeen
was composed of the leaders of all
Farm Organizations, C. H. Gustaf
son, President of tho Farmer's Union
in Nebraska was chairman of this
committee.
Beaver Creek and Elm Creek Town
ships adopted tho program of work.
Beaver Creek Township Meeting E.
L. Taylor helped tho members to
figure cost of producing a bushel of
wheat in their township. The follow
ing program of work was adopted:
Main source of income, wheat. Diffi
culties; rust, smut and low yield.
Remedies; smut demonstrations and
trying out rust resistant and improv
ed Variety of Wheat. Goal; ten farm
ers raising Knnrcd wheat, two farm
ers treating for smut, fivo farmers
keeping "Cost of Production" rec
ords. Project Leader, W. H. Garlach. Ten
farmers signed up for Accredited
Tuberculosis Freed Federal testing,
eight farmers sicmed un for "Pn
"Bred Sires Only," two farmers will
keep records on oats, three on corn
and two on hogs.
Elm Creek Township . Meeting E.
L. Taylor figured with the farmers
present, cost of producing a bushel
of corn. Program of work adopted
as follows: Main source of Income,
wncac. Uilllcultics. mnrkotlnrr. rust.
smut and low yield. Remedies, keep
ing Cost of Production rccorJs, grow
ing improved strains of wheat. Goal,
two farmers growing Kanrcd wheat,
four farmers keeping "Cost of Pro
duction" records. Project Loader, Art
Stearn. Two farmers of Elm Creek
will keep records on corn, two on
oats and two on hogs. Four farm
ers signed for "Pure Bred Sires
Only."
