library and reading room. Recently a
number who are interested in the
proposition met informnlly nnd made

bers. The object of the organization

to provide for a reading room and

OBITUARY MILLIKEN
Jessie Mnbel Brooks was bora
August 12, 1888. She graduated
from tho Red Cloud High School and
from tho Teacher's Training Class at
Kenrncy State Normal. After fin
ishing her training she taught for a
number of yenrs nt Cowles and then
at Orleans. July 26, 1910, she was
united in marriage to Rolland Mil'.i
ken. Since that time her home has
been on a farm near Orleans. When
n young girl she united with the
Methodist Episcopal church and at the
time of her death was a members of
that church at Orleans, Nebraska.
Her life was always that of a faithful
Christian, a faith that found expres
sion in loving service to others. She
never failed to do a friend a good
turn. Dearly beloved by all who
knew her she leaves to mourn her loss
her husband and small son, besides
her father, two brothers and a sister.
While returning home with her hus
band and her brother, Ross Brooks
and family, she was instantly killed
when the' automobile in which they
were riding plunged over the cement
approach to a bridge and overturned
in the creek below. The funeral was
conducted nt the Now Virginia Metho
dist church, Thursday June 10. .The
'Rev. Chas. E. Schoficld, pastor of the
church officiated, assisted by Rev.
Rose, pastor of the Orleans Methodist
church. Interment was in the Plain
view cemetery. The sympathy of a
host of friends goes out to the bercav;
