After the minutes- of the June 3, 12 and 18 meetings were read and 'ap proved the report of S. V.r Florance was presented and ordered placed on file. On the recommendation of .City En gineer Geo. H. Overing that the firm of Grant Fulton & Letton consulting Engineers, assist him in constructing Paving Districts Nos. 2 and 3 as per Ordinance No. CO, for a fee of five per cent of the contract price, pay ments to be made as per contract sub mitted. The Council decided to cm ploy said firm and the Mayor and Clerk was authorized to enter into a contract as above stated. W. A. Patten and A. Clark, engin eers at the power house, owing to' the continued high cost of living and the long hours of employment, asked the Council for a raise in salary of $15 per month, respectively, which re quest was referred by the mayor to the Advisory Committee. WKBSTEIl COUNTY IMPROVED LIVE STOCK BREEDERS' MEETING The meeting of the Live Stock Breeders at Blue Hill last Thursday was tho best ever held. Forty men were on hand at 1:30 and all enjoyed a fine banquet served by the Kind Cafe. Following the dinner, Mr. Newton Gaines of Lincoln held the close at tention of the audience for over an hour with one of his whirlwind talks on organization. It was a real treat to have Mr. Gaines with us on this occasion. Mr. Chas. B. Steward of Red Cloud followed this with a talk on our Fu ture Live Stock Industry. Webster County is very fortunate to have a live stock breeder who can get up be fore an audience of live slock men and handle a subject like Mr. Steward handled his. He is well versed on future conditions of live stock indus try, duo to a large amount of read ing of our leading Live Stock Jour nals, and he had no trouble to con vince tho men present that there would bo a big demand for all indi uduals of all breeds of live stock.
