There is a tumor abioad that the
Nebraska State Fair has been discon
tinued. Let every friend of the Fair
brand it as false. Let every friend of
when such a statement is
made him refute it as strongly as is
within his power. Such a rumor is
injurious in the extreme to this great
state institution, and should bo con
tradicted whenever met.
The Webster County Fair days arc
Aug. 19 to 23. August 19 is the en
try day. Anyone wanting Premium
list and speed progiam should write
the Secictary, L. E. Spence, Bladen,
or call at the County Agent's office,
Red Cloud. An additional feature of
the fair this year will be the Boy's
and Gills Pig show. .$50.00 is being
offoicd in picmiums. It is hoped that
boys and gills from all over the coun
ty will show their pigs at the- County
Fair.
Senator Penrose, republican, of
Pennsylvania, is a little ovcily fond of
criticizing the administration. He re
cently gave utterance to the following
sentiment: "Let sugar go to thirty
cents and the consumption will auto
matically control itself." Doubtless it
would, and the Chief respectfully calls
attention to the fact that if the es
teemed Honorable and some more of
his stripe were to get in control and
put the "automatic" theory into
practice, the man of wealth could roll
in sugar and the poor man would
have his supply "automatically" shut
off. We stand for lloovcrizing.
