of the Convention recently held in
Omaha. The pastor, Mrs. Mitchell,

an officer from Grand Island. Mc
Laughlin 1b reported to be connected
with an automobile deal which did not
exactly 'measuro up to the standards
of the law. To date we have not learn
ed the outcome of the case.

time set aside for the War- Savings
Stamp drive. School will be dismissed

Tho school board members are respon
sible fov' conducting these meetings
and securing subscriptions. The teach
er is responsible for co-operation with
the school board and aiding them in

On Friday of last week Sherlft Huf
fer was called' to Guide Rock to take
ohanre of Oliver Anderson, who had
shown signs of insanity. Anderson
had bee,p, iuakui; his homo at the
Reeves Hotel nt that 'place and had
been acting in a rather strange innn
ner for several days. Ho was brought
to this city to await the action of the
authorities of Jewell county, Kansa,
he being a a native of that county.
Mr. C. B. Steward of district number
.31 offers a thoroughbred pig to tho
child raising the best pig in tho Pig
Club work of that dlntrlot. Isn't there
a man in ovory district that will glvo
a premium for some project of this
kind? It is a big encouragement to
the childieu and teacher. Just send
the teaohei-word if you have premiums
to offer. The projects open to boys
and girls between ten and eighteen
years of age are corn growing, pig
raising, gardening, calf raibslng, chick
en raising, potato growing, sowing and
war. bread making.
