Owing to tlie number of claims for
exemption that were filed by those
summoned in the Hist cnll and also duo
to the number found physically unfit
for service it was ne?cssary to call an
other oue hundred men On Wednes
day fifty appeared before tho local
borrd for the physical examination and University of Florida,
oit of this number only nine were Superintendent, Gertrui
lounu umi (i hi not asic ior exemptions.
Another fifty men will bo examined to
day.
Among the number of claims filed it
is found that one man akcd to bo ex
cused on account of religcous belief.
While wo have unmeasured respect
for the man who professes a belief and
actually lives up to the same we feel,
that when he uses this belief for the
purpose of dodging the duty he jowes
to the ling which makes it possible for
him to worship his Maker in the way
he sees fit, that he is no better than
many othergood christian men who
have answered the call. a
