charming young ladies of this vicinity.
During the time she at tended school
in this elty she won the friendship and
admiration of instructors and follow
students, alike. Later she attended
Kearney Normal, after wards devoting
hortiine to teaching sehool, having
been an instructor in one of the rural
schools, near Potter, for several terms.
While wo are not personally ac
quainted with the groom, we jndgo
that ho is u young man of pleasing
personalities mid possesses a large cir
cle of friends. Ho is engaged in the
retail drug business at Potior and also
conducts a Music Store at Sidney.
After an extended honeymoon spent
in Denver and othercities of the tn'oiiu
tain states they will be at homo to
their many friends in Sidney, where
the Kroom is erecting a modern resi

issue of a Seward paper under the cap
tion of "University Week a Grand Suc
cess": "The state university attractions,
which have been with us the past week
at tho Y. M. C. A. have proven .very
popular and are considered much
stronger than those of last year. The
entertainments are verified and flvo
in number and are sent out with the
Idea of bringing tho life and activities
of the university in closer touch with
the people of the communities where
the attractions appear. Only five
other towns than Seward secure the
entertainments and thoy wore brought
here under tho auspices of tho Univor
sity club of this county.
Soward people havo been very kind
and generous in entertaining tho stud
outs who make up the companies and
thero have been many more homes opon
than the requirements called for.
"On Friday evening the Cadot band
under direction of Prof. (J. II Cornell
opened tho week's attractions. There
arc about 00 musicians in theorgantya
tion and their music is verv trood.
One of tho number, LeRoy Melslngor,
is au accomplished pianist and Is tho

Death Calls Two Citizens

Another or our pioneer citizens has
answered the final summons, as on
Tuesday evening death called John W.
I'i'Kgi gcd 7.'1 years, 8 months and '2.-.
days.
About four mouths ago he was taken
to tho homo of his son, Ben, who re
sides west of this city in order that he
might receive tho euro and attention
of tlioso near and dear to him. He
w:iB alllicted with Brights disease, the
same having rendered him bedfast for
the past fourtttou weeks.
Mr. Pegg was born in Frankfort,
Indiana, May 35, 1813. He came to Ne
braska June 10, 187?, whore ho has
since made his home.
The deceased is survived .by one
sister aud'onc brother, residing In
Frankfort, Indiana, five sons, Hon,
Idoyd, Ed, and Will of this city and
Jack of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma,
three daughters, Mrs Ruth Jensen, of
this city, Mrs. Mabel Thomas of Sut
ton and Mrs. Uattio Martin of River
ton. Kov. G. W. Hummel will conduct tho
funoralserviees on Friday afternoon,
lit 3 o'clock from tho Methodist church
and Interment will bo mado in tho

On Saturday occurred tho death of
Sylvoster N. Ludlow, at his homo in
the First Ward. He had been in poor
health for some tlmo past and was 78
yours of age at tho tlmo of his doath
Mr. Ludlow was born in Ohio, Aug
ust 8, 1838, coming to this county in
1872, and was a rosident of tho county
over since. Ho served with tho Union
army during the civil war.
Ho is survived by his wife, four sons,
Herb, of this city, Percy of California,
Chnrles of McCook, and Henry of Ok
lahoma City, Oklahoma, three daugh
ters, Mrs. Beech Robertson, Mrs. Bert
Hatfield and Miss Lena, all of this city,
and one brother, Charles, residing
north of Rod Cloud.
Funeral services were conducted on
Monday aftornoon, at 3 o'clock, from
tho Christian church and interment
was made in the Red Cloud Cemetory.
