seven years old this week. Editor

high staudurd set by his predecessor,
Editor L. E. Taltaud it is one of the
good newspapers of the valley.
The Red Cloud Chief is another one
of the old papers of the valley, having
completed its fortytlilrd year last
week. The Chief has Hoen many up3und
downs and if we aro not mistaken was
ouco botuud lost on an election. Since
coming under the management of
Editor McArthur a few years ago, it lias
blossomed out into one of the best
papers aloug tho valley and is now one
of the best propositions in this section
of tho state.
The Red Cloud Commercial Adver
tiser started out on Its fifteenth year
on Monday of this week. Wo remem
ber very well when the ComniPrclal
Advert'scr was startod by its preent
editor and people laughed at him for.
attempting to publish n paper three
times a week, but the Advertiser has
been right on tho lob ever since. He
started out with one small jobber and
a handful of type, but now lias one of
the best equipped oillcos aloug the

January (ith. but settlement has been
made wild only one Foster S. (Jumble
of Stanton county. The other ten
treasurers (of Adams, Box llutte, Fill
moro, Furnas, Greeley, Hall, Howard,
Knox. Richardson and York) will be
sottlod with as promptly as possible,
after they have made an additional
statement showing balance of statu
funds on hand at end of each month In
1915, togethr with date and amount of
each remittance. The statutory peiialj
ty will probably be exacted in all cases
whore treasurers ref,used to make
monthly remittances.
