that this question was defeated when
voted on before because few people

ward the project. Not much enthus

much ploased over tlio appointment of
Mr. Lannlug as Secretary of State.
With the announcement of tills ap
pointment came a feeling of security
because the tiatlou lias confidence In
this matf who Is specially trained for
this work. As u nation ro have been
exceptionally fortuuatc so far in the
men who have filled this position but
as a matter of fact we have not been
worthy of such good fortune owing to
the fact that appointments are mnde
to this oillce for political leasoiis and
not because we have had tho foresight
to prepare men by years of training
for the intricate problems that they
are called upon tosolve. Mr. Limning
has had the tiainingand will make ono
of our greatest secretaries.

tention to the fact that a registration
fee of two dollars Is due. This notice
is sent to all hotels, restaurants, room
ing and upartment houses in the state.

A-luraiun issued an order to the Com
mercial Hotel at Franklin, Nebraska,
to either close tho place or clean up
and has received word that they will
re-model the place at big expense
This will be quite a boost to the town.
1 he Commissioner has also sent out
fourteen notices this week to dlirorent
hotels in the stato to clean up. Tho
tendency among the hotel men over
the state is to comply with the require
ments of tho law. (Julto a noticeable
change for the hotter is being observed.

and the hotel committeemen on the
