Many Celebrate At Hastings
Many of our people celebrated the
annlversiry of Independence Day by
accompanying the bund to Hastings,
Monday. The celebration there on the
whole was a good one. Thei units an
unexpectedly largo crowd and they
were quietly having a splendid time,
orderly at all times and we saw no uu
rulincss anywhere. The big spectacu
lar feature was the parade which was
excellent. This was headed by the
Red Cloud and Hastings bandy and
then followed many floats illustrating
the early history of this country. An
excellent likeness of George Washing
ton and the early fathers was present
ed to the admiring thousands. Presi
dent Wilson was as natural as life.
We were disappointed that the com
mittee did not have W. J. Bryan and
Cecil Matthews in this parade.
The ilre-woihs were splendid
greatly enjoyed by all. The base
game were slow uninteresting,
noticed that Captain Iteunot of
Hastings team was the same Oeuuet of
old. A city the size of Hustings could
uiford to have some free attractions
but rf there were any we failed to tlnd
them. On the whole our people thoro
ly enjoyed themselves and we con
gratulate the good people of Hastings
on their success.
