Average Tax Levy 211
Ah may be seen from the above table Red Cloud ns an educational center
stands with two others in a class by Itself,
Iu rder'to give our bchools such an enviable position in the state, has
our school board been extravagant or has tho tax levy been excessive. Dense
noto that in the tax levies above quoted as taken from tho Statu Superintend
ent's records, only two sohools have a levy less than 25 mills, while tho uvorage
for the statw la 29 mills Rod Cloud has maintained her sohools on a 25 mill
levy without llcehso money, while our sister cities have, with few exceptions,
received Iu addition to the above levies from one to eight thousand dollars
license money from saloons. j
ECONOMY has been the keynote of the present administration in us far
as it has been consistent with efficiency. R. D. MORI 1 Z.
