Are Your Cows Like These?
Two cows were in tho Nebraska
University Farm heid u short time
ago which looked very much allko.
Most people, perhaps, would have
judged one to be a little butter than
the other. The average feed of onu
for two years cost 104 l!. The nvor
ogu feed for the other was 35 cents a
year moro. Tho one that it cost SG4.1r
to feed produced about $10 a year
more than alio cost. The one that it
cost 3!i cents a year moro to feed re
turned five times the income of the
othor abovo cost of feed. ,Not even the
dairy exports could have guessed that.
The way they found out was to weigh
and test the milk, tho same as they do
with all of the cows of the state dairy
herd. As a small milk tester and
scales cost but a few dollars, this
pratlce can be carried on by any
farmer.
