Tho Sogdlans aro supposed to hnvo

Western Medicines In Chins.
In China, western Ideas aro going
ahead. A proof of this Is that the
European medicine chest has been
adopted. Dr. Wu Lien Teh (Btlll
known nt Cambridge, whore ho took
his decrees, as "O. I Tuck"), tho di
rector of tho plaguo prevention serv
ice organized by tho Chtneso govern
ment, recently came to 'England t
read n paper at tho International
Medical Congress on his work In
North China. "I wish tho uso of
Chinese mcdlclnos was dying out as
quickly as wo "expected," ho Bald;
"but tho people aro saturated with
old-fnshloncd Ideas, nnd It will tnku
some tlmo to cradlcato them. Still."
he added,' "western treatment Is mak
ing headway, especially lu surgery,
and there nrc a great many Europonn
trained doctors now practicing nmong
tho ChlneBo. Tho general stago of
medicine In China Is about compnr-
ablo to what It was In Europe GO or
GO years ago. A significant sign of
progress Is that tho old-fashioned
physicians aro coming to our service
and asking western trained men to
glvo them lectures nnd advlco, while
tho people themselves aro taking an
interest In health subjocts."

Five Solid Reasons
lIVE solid reasons why each farm
needs a manure spreader are these,
in the words of a farmer who hdj
devoted much time to correct soil
feedincr. 1. It saves disagreeable
and hard work. 2. It pulverizes and mixes
the manure mass. 3. It distributes manure
evenly ovor the. field, insuring a good, even
stand of grain. 4. It prevents loss of nitrogen
through fermentation or leaching in the pile
when manure is hauled directly from the stable.
5. Indirectly, the ease with which it can be
handled encourages the owner to care for the
manure and distribute it on the fields care
fully instead of wasting it.
I H C Manure Spreaders
will work uncomplainingly for years making
profits for the owners. You will find them all
Btles and sizes, high and low, endless apron
or reverse.
IHC manure spreaders are exceedingly
dujable, strong, correctly built to stand all con
ditions and all strains they may meet. Each
feature has its purpose. Up hill or down or
cutting corners, they spread all kinds of
manure evenly, in a light or heavy coat at
the will of the driver. The beater driVe is
