Chief one year ,$1,50. (old subscription) counts 700 -votes. Nebraska Farmer to January 1 1915, $1.00 counts 1000 votes. Chief (new jsubscription) ' one year and the Nebraska Farmer until; January 1, 1915, for $2.00, counts 2000 votes. Chief (renewa.1 subscription) one 'year and Nebraska Farmer until January 1. 1915. $2.00, counts 1700 votes. Five years subscription to the two papers, $10.00, counts 3000 extra votes. Contestants should work for the combination subscriptions. For one day only, Wednesday, Nay 1st, all subscriptions received at The Chief office will count for double the regular number of votes. Mrs. Ed McAlister and two youngest children departed Wednesday for Akron, Colo., to visit her mother, Mrs. Sansom, for a few weeks. Nelson M. Hayes and wife are en joying a visit with their daughter, .Mrs. Elsie Hallowcll, and two children, who now reside In Paris, Texas. Edmond Burke, of Walnut, Iowa, who has been visiting bis sisters, Mrs. W. 11. Bailey and Miss Kathryne Burke, departed for home this morning. Griee Drug Co. store, Parks & Ryan of this city and of John Rose, Blue Hill and Ziegler & Thomp son of Guide Rook. The map was gotten out by J. R. and R. P. Ice of St Joe, Mo., and Is a very creditable affair. 'In the Heart of Africa' will be the subject of an illustrated lecture given Sunday evening at the Congregational cbnrcb. The lecture will be illustrat ed by 70 beautifully colored slides made from photographs which were taken amid the scenes and peoples of Africa. 'I go Fishing', or 'The 8econd Fishing experience', will be the sub ject Sunday morning. Work Is already begun on the exten sion of the Burlington depot. When completed this building will be large and comodious and will meet our needs for some time to come. While this city would have been pleased to see a brick depot here it will appreciate the change. The modern conveniences that will be installed' will make this depot firstclass in every respect an the inside. It will meet all requirements and the patrons of the road will wel come the change. Now that we have a permanent band stand erected on the school grounds we believe that it should be used as of ten as possible. This is an excellent location, plenty of room for every oue. The concerts given iu the evening arc much appreciated. It has been suggested that the band be asked to conduct a sacred concert on Sunday afternoons uud we believe the idea Is a good one. Prof, Bet, is most court eous and willing at all times to please the people orf Red Cloud and we be lieve that he would gladly arrange a progiamof this character if ho were asked, With the baud and orchestra a concert could be given that would be us good as any that we have at the cbautauqua. Hoxsey of Longmont, Colorado, arrived in Red Cloud the latter part of the week and looked the field over here with a view of locating. On Friday he purchased the equip ment and practice of the late Dr. R.F Raines, and left on Saturday for Long mont to move bis family and personal belongings to this place. Dr. Hoxsey comes highly recommended in bis chos en profession, is a man of pleasing ap pearance apd,we are pleased to know he has decjded to locate among us.
