Mr. and Mrs. J. Wlsner, who were

On Wednesday night fire destroyed
Dr. Will Heffron'a livery stable 'at
Hastings and between 35 and 40 horses
were burned to death.
Mrs. O. Wilson and daughter, Elsie,
returned to their home at McCook,
Wednesday, after visiting at the
home of W. A. Kent for several days.
Miss Peterson returned'to her home
atWray, Colorado, Wednesday after
spending several weeks visiting at the
home of ber slater, Mrs. Chas,

The May Stewart Company played
to a large and appreciative audience
on both Friday and Saturday ulghts
of last week. On Friday night they
presented "The Sculptor Dream"
written by W. S. Gilbert, and on Sat
urday night the offering consisted ot
Shakespeare's amusing comedy, "The
Twelfth Night" Moth productions
were well rendered and was greatly
enjoyed by all those who are familar
with the writings of these noted
authors.

Miss Eleuor Gilliam who was in
jured some three weeks ago in an un
fortunate automobile accident was
taken to Chicago last Thursday to
have her limbs set. The operation
was performed and Miss Elenor's
mnuy ft lends will be pleased to know
that she is gettlug along exceptionally
well.

sponded to by a number of the fire
boys with the fire fighting appartus,
but before their arrival the fire was
extinguished, after doing only a small
amount of damage.
The State Baseball League closed
its meeting at Hastings, Wednesday,
after making quite a few changes lu
the bylaws. Chief among these is to
abolish the practice of dividing the
gate receipts between home and visit
ing clubs. Hereafter visiting clubs
will be paid the $30 guaranty for each
game and all receipts in excess of this
amount to be kept by the home club.
This rule is to apply to all games ex
cept the Fourth of July. The meeting
was largely attended, all the clubs
except two' '.being represented, and
all present was enthusiastic over the
outlook for next year.
