The funeral of Miss Bertha Scott
who passed away at her home at Grand
Island on last Saturday morning was
conducted from the M E. church nu

Miss Scott formerly lived with her
parents at Red Cloud and lias many
friends and relatives still living here
who mourn her decease, at the un
timely age of 20 years, 1 month and 8
days.
Miss Marie Ross went to Hastings
Tuesday morning to take part in a
musical entertainment given in that
city. What the nature of the enter
taiument was, or what Miss Marie
was called to render, the Chief is not
advised, But the musical talent of
Miss Ross is known and appreciated
iu a large portion of the state, and
the Chief is always glad to learn of a
Red Cloud child acquiring a desirable
celebrity.
J.O. Lambrecht of Inavale, Neb, a
young farmer who marketed u ship
ment of hogs here yesterday, reported
that the hog disease is still lurking
around that commiuity. Mr. Lam
brecht lost a few recently, which
prompted him to ship out all his hogs
ready to go to market. There seems
to bo a pretty fair supply of shoati in
his neighborhood, according to Mr.
Lambrecht, but the presence of the
epidemic that took so many off last
fall about that country, keeps the

Walter Warren has changed his
location. He has moved into the Mc
Gulre brick building south of the Chief
olllce where ho will conduct a llrst

Warren has had tho experience necess
ary to a successful conduct of this
business. Ile has established n good

location. The people whom the new
