The women uru in it this your. In
Webster county, Miss Edith L. Mc
Keighan, daughter of the Into Con
gressman McKelghan, is the fusion
candidate for clerk of tho district
court, while Mi s.8 Gertrude Coon Ik the
candidate for superintendent of
schools. We're for you, girls. Admits
County Democrat.
The good people of Lincoln have
learned that the cause for their
typhoid fever epidemic is to be found
in their water supply, which comes
from Antelope creek. This water is
contaminated and is full of typhoid
genus. At this season of the year
these bacteria are apparently more
active than usual People of lied
Cloud can well allot d to lake every pic
caution possible with regards to their
drinking wnter. Tho water in crooked
creek may not bu infected, but why
take so many chances'.' We t cully
think that it is again time to do a
little more energetic hustling In our
endeavor to get nu abundance of good
pure water for the city. The time
given to the contractors for providing
water from the wells bus already ox
plred and wo believe that they should
turn in the wnter or else give up the
work. What the people want is the
real thing and rainbows no longer np.
peal to us. If the water Is in the wells
let us have it and If it is not by all
means let us get down to business and
go to the springs where tho" water is.
Wo arc indeed pleased that the
Argus thinks well of our county com
mercial club proposal and the idea Bd
vanced that this club could do a great
deal for the reads of Webster county
appeals strongly to us. For Instance,
If wo had such a club there could boa
de Unite road policy adopted, such us
the present commissioners have com
menced, and then rcguidlrss of who
should be elected this policy could be
easily curried out AH that would bo
necessary would bo for tho onrani.a
tion to ask'.each candidate how ho
stood on the"joad question and If he
would pledgftjiimself to earryout the
jdoplei policy his electlou would
tnetttl that our roads would be secure.
One policy enri led out for a term of
years would mean that the roads in
Webster county would be adding
thousands of dollars to the value of
all property. There is no reason why
we should not have gaod roads all
over this county and they would bene
fit every town, every farm and every
individual. The other towns in the
county have sigpitled a willingness to
organize and all that is now needed is
to orystalie the sentiment and form
the club.
