Bift Meetings to 8c Held Next Sunday at
Opera House.
Ernest Slinonds of Lincoln, assistant
state secretary of the Young Men's
Christian Association, will hold two
big meetings in Ued Cloud next Hun
day at the opera house, In the after
noon at.'t o'clock there will be a meet
ing for men only, and in the evening
there will be a big union meeting of
all the churches. The addresses of Mr.
Simonds will be illustrated wlthstere
opticon views showing the buildings
and work of the Y. M. C. A. in this
state, and will be very interesting.
The Y. M. C. A. has accomplished won
derful work in the lines of religions,
educational and physicial training of
young men and covers a field occupied
by no other organization. The meet
ings should be attended by everyone
interested in the moral welfare of the
community.
Cooper Recovers Damages.
The suit for damages of A. A. Coop
er vs. the Farmers' Creek Telephone
Company came up for hearing before
Judge Keed last Tuesday and the tes
timony and arguments were not com
pleted until Wednesday afternoon.
Judge Keed handed down a decision
in favor of the plaiutiiV Thursday
morning. The damage suit grew out
of an injunction suit instituted by the
telephone company against Cooper
early last summer. It seems that
Cooper brought from J. it. Wisecarvcr
his interest in the Farmers' Creek Tele
phone Company, and a disagreement
arose between him and the company
over the payment of dues. The com
pany sought to enjoin Cooper from
using the telephone line on the ground
that he had no title to the phone.
Judge Adams decided in favor of
Cooper, who then brought suit to re
cover damages from the company.
Cooper claimed St personal damages
and $71 which he paid for attorney
fees. Against this claim the company
set up a counter claim of SJ.M.O.'t for
dues, etc. Judge Heed allowed Cooper
gill) for attorney fees and S21 personal
damages, the latter being offset by the
company's claim of SL'l.

closed their work here until next fall,
as the farm needs their help.
James Correll has decided to make a
trip west. Horace Oreely said "Young
Man Go West," a number of years ago, '
but there are still good chances in the
west.
Miss Lillian Porternier and Miss
Ilcrtha Ohnstcde, who were in school
for only one term, like the school so
well that they have decided to remain
another term. They are young ladies
that father and mother can well be
proud of.
Quite a number have spoken tol'res.
Dietrick about his leaving Ued Cloud,
as announced In the Advertiser last
week. There is some misunderstand
ing some where. It is not Prcs. Die
trick but A. J. Dietrick who has been
here part of this school year, who has
accepted a position elsewhere. This
will have no bad eil'ect upon the school
whatever and it will go right on get
ing better every day. We're here to
stay. Send us your boys and girls and
we will send you the finished product.
Instead of running a summer school
this summer the college is going to
give the summer review work in the
spring term of school. So if any
teacher whose school is out and who
wants a thorough review in the second
grade branches or the iirst grade if
enough come to form a class it would
pay her to take this now before the
old certificate runs out. There maybe
others who wish to teach this fall or
those who have failed to pass the 8th
grade examination, who could find
just what they want here this spring.
We have a nice class of eight who will
take the state examination tills spring.

have been engaged in making a house
to house canvas for the 1007 issue of
the Red Cloud City Directory. Every
house will be called on and the name
of every adult, male or female, wage
earner in the city, or head of a family,
will be printed in alphabetical order,
giving name, occupation and place of
residence. A new map lias been com
pleted and the Directory will oe com
plete in every detail, giving the name
of every street and the location. A
brief summary of the city, the county
and city ofiicials, churches, clubs,
schools, lodges and societies, witli a
complete roster of the oillcers and
dates of meeting and places. In addi
tion a classified business directory will
be issued, each and every business
under its proper head. Also a list of
public buildings and business blocks.

First Girl In Sixty Years.
A little over four months ago a
daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs.
John Copley, Jr., of lnavale precinct.
We made mention of the fact at the
time, but what wo did not tell, and
what we were unaware of at the time,
