ing. 'A. Wells and two sons were down
from Riverton Wednesday. Mr. Wells
bought .'100 fence posts here and saved
about $7 by coming to Red Cloud to
trade.

residence property just north of M.
C. Sherman's residence, in the south
end of town, and will make his home
there.

were in Omaha this week attending
the meeting of the Eastern Star grand

pretty good bands.
About thirty representatives of the
various business houses of Red Cloud
went down to the river yesterday
afternoon and repaired the temporary
bridge so teams could cross.
S. V. Ludlow has received a letter
from a physician in Alameda, Cal.,
stating that his son, Percy Ludlow,
after escaping from the San Francisco
disaster, had been stricken with a
mild form of smallpox.

L. M. Crabill returned from Omaha

landau. Neither of the vehicles are
brand new, though both are in line

Miss .lessie Wert, who has been tak
ing a course in the Conservatory of
Music at Lincoln, returned to Red
Cloud last Friday and expects to make
tliis place her home. She will give
instructions in vocal and instrumental
music.

mare as far as Rlue Hill, but left her
there on account of the muddy roads.

That there will be a great number
of new walks put in this year is cer
tain. Work has already begun. This
week the cement curbing has been put
in for walks in front of the Cotting
and Lindsey blocks and the lots south
of Peterson's implement house, and it
