A now solution of tho child labor
question has boon sprung in Boston.
During an investigation of tho con
dltion of child labor in that city last
Saturday a representative of tho Anti
Child Labor leaguo mado the follow
ing declaration: "Wo proposo that
no man shall havo more children than
he can support. Men now aro forcod
to raiso families to work in the mills
and tho age limit is constantly vio
lated. Thousands of children never
see school and work like slaves. If
necessary we will establish a law limit
and enforce It. There.ls a way with
out infantiolde. But we will stop the
raising of children wholly as a busi
ness enterprise."
In the east, where child labor In the
mills, factories and mines Is employed
to a great extent, tho situation has
grown desperate and it is no wonder
that drastic measures are proposed to
suppress it. Just how the raising of
children is to bo curtailed Is not ex
plained. People will probably con
tinue to get married and raise children,
and so long as the greed of tho eastern
manufacturers and coal barons re
main unappoasod, tho crime of work
ing little children In the mines and
factories will go on Tho question ia

The Circus.
Campbell Bros, circus gavo two por
foimances in this city yesterday to
largo and well pleased crowds. In tbo
afternoon the largo tont was completely
filled. ' Tho crowd at the evening per
formance was mush smaller than that
in tho afternoon, but all present seemed
to enjoy the show.
Tho stout parado in tho morning was
not up to tho standard in size but what
thero was of it was good.
Tho circus proper was a very credit
nblo exhibition, tho acrobatic work of
Japiueso troupe being particularly
