Phelps of Bla den, who was arrested last April on the charge of illegal voting, was ttied in tho county court and acquitted of tiio charge. This case has beon tho cause of a gteat deal of ill-feeling in tho northwestern part of tho county. A few men up there seem to think they cau rnn things to suit themselves. Tho county attorney did well in not taking hold of this case, thereby saving tho cotinty a lot of costs. Tho ring leaders in the prosecution of this caso woro Julo Horn, L. C. Keith, O. A. Whelan and A. P. Johnson, nnd tho witnesses for the defense, who prac tically represented tho best element of the community, were Joseph Pashby, James Mellride, Eli Cox, C. A. Easter ly, W. R. On Tuosday evening tho opora house was filled to overflowing by tho people of Rod Cloud to hoar tho first evoning's program of tho high school commence ment exercises. "Tho History of Red Cloud," n throo-act sketch, written nnd produced by tho class of 1003, was tho principal foaturo of the evening's pro gram. All of tho characters in the play wore well carried out by tho graduates, but tho caricaluro of "Cap tain Houohin," in tho scone entitled "Modern Politics," was tho hit of tho evoning and was heartily applauded. Too intermissions botweon acts woro filled in by vocal and instrumental music, nearly every number receiving an oncoro. On Thursday evoning tho rogular graduating exercisos wero hold and another largo audlonco grcotod tho class. Tho oxorcisos woro opeuod by singing, following which tho Rov. Schlosser invoked divino blessing on those present. Miss Jeanotto Dysart rondored soveral excellent vocal mini bors, which woro well received and called forth frequent onenres. Dr. F. H. POTTER'S HALL The Scene of a Gay and Brilliant Throng on Monday Evening. On last Monday evening tho ladies gave a return danco to tho gentlomon in Potter's hall. By tuis change of dates the ladies were enabled to securo the services of three traveling musi clans, who gave a fino concert from 9 until 10 o'clock, during which timo the following ladies, seloctod as patron esses, received: Mrs. William Henry Xanders, Mrs. Charlie Potter, Mrs. M. M. Stern, Mrs. George Hadol, Mrs. Aaron Conover, Mrs. E. B. Smith, Mrs. Oscar Hughes and Miss Nellio Sher man. The dancing began with tho grand march, lad by Mr. and Mrs. Cowden, and continued until a late hour. Delicious sherbot and cake were served during the evening. Several out of town guests were present, and all enjoyed the charming music and dancing and expressed themselves as moro than delighted with the even ing's entertainment.
