had boon seriously ill during a greater
part of her visit east but is now con

Lizzio, the thirteon year old daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Deisloy died
at her homo in Inavalo on Monday.

Mrs. Reach, an aunt of Mrs. C. D.Rob
in ton and Mrs. Del Wells, died al the

Wells on Friday nnd tho remains wero
taken to liltio Hill for interment.
Frank Cowdon returned from Chica
go last Saturday where ho has boon
purchasing his now summer slock of
clothing and men's furnishings. Ho
casually informs us that he tore his
shirt up tho front and down tho back
in his effort and that ho outdid himself.
He says that tho now spring stock of

Sarah Ann Groat, wife of P.L. Groat,
whoso death occurred last Friday, Feb
ruary 8th, at her home in tho south
part of tho city, was born in Henry
county, Illinois, June 3, 1848. She was
married, to D. L. Groat December 20,
1804. Thoy moved to Iowa in 1888 and
came from Iowa to Nebraska, with

in this city. Sho had been an invalid
for several years past, but hor ailment
of past years was in no way serious
until a few days boforoher death when
sho contracted pneumonia. Sho leaves
a husband and six children to mourn
hor loss. Tho funeral services wero
hold at tho Mothodlst church on Sun
day afternoon, and wero conducted by
Rov. J. H. M. Cobb. Sho was a mem
borof tho Inavale M. K. church. Tho
remains wore laid at rest in tho Red
Cloud cemotory.
The probabilities aro that tho Ne
braska Mercantile stock of goods will
not bo opoaed up for sftlolo this city.
It will probably be divided into two or
throe stocks and sold to merchants in
small towns.' No doubt a number of
pooplo would be ploasod to see this
stock oponed up and sacrificed hero,
but thoy will undoubtedly bo disap
pointed. It has boon reported to us on
very good authority that tho entire
stock will bo shipped away as soon as
ilio matters arosettled up.
