his home in Pasadena', California, Mi
Marsh was one of tho old settlers of
this city, haviug for years conducted a
general merchandise business here and

Tlio city council meets in regular
session next Wednesday, and wo have
been requested by tho residents of the
northonst enil of town to call attention
tho condition of tho crosswalks on Kim
street. A sidewalk extends from the
Holland house to tho north end of this
streot, and nlthough it may have been
better nt one time, it onn nt lonst bo
called a good thing iu a spell of muddy
weather llko last week, had tho city
not taken up tho crosswalks to do some
grading nnd forgot to put them down
agnln. As n rule the sidewalks are in
good condition nnd tho city should ro
placo tho two cross-walks that were
tnken out.
Lnst Tuesday evening nbout eight
o'clock our people wero again stirred
by tho clanging of tho hro boll. The
fire was located in a residence belong
ing to Mrs. W. J. Perry in tho north
east part of town whioh was occupied
by Cbas. McCord. A lamp exploding
was tho cause of tho fire. Mrs. McCord
was at homo at the time, having re
tired for ibo night, and loft the light
burning low in another room as Mr.
McCord wat nt church and had not yet
returned borne. The exploding of the
lamp awoke her and sbo gave the
alarm. The damage to the bouse was
small but considerable of tho furniture
was burned.
