of tho American eaglo which ho ahot
during the blizzard of last Saturday.
The bird measured six foot and olght

the four claws on each foot snoaaured
two and thrco fourths inches and tho
three smaller ones each ono and three
fourtha inches, and wore aa sharp
as needles. Tho bird was one of the
finest specimens which has yot boon

One of tho most important results of
the recent visit of Commissioner Gen
eral Pook to Paris was tho acquirement
of space for a "corn kitchen at tho ex
position, in which will be illustrated on
a very extenslvo acalo nil tho culinary
possibilities and dletotio virtues of our
Indian corn, maize. It is highly prob
able that this exhibit will possess nioro
novelty and interest to tho Europeau
and Asiatic visitors to the exposition
than any other feature of tho American
display. It will bo tho object of this
"kitchen" to qomonstrato to the peoplo
of the old world, particularly tho
Asiatics, that our Indian corn is con
Tertible into a groatoi varlotyof whole
