The republicans have carried the states of Iowa Utah Illinois Kansas Colorado Nebraska Maryland Kentucky Now York New Jersey Pennsylvania and in fact nearly every state in the union that held an election last Tuesday went republican from 20,000 to 200,000. Now get onto the band wagon for 1806. Hurrah for protection and prosperity. It's a coming. Sliver Wedding Anniversary. October 28 will long be remembered by the people of Judson and vicinity, it being the 25th anniversary ot the mar riage ot Mr. and Mrs, Wm. Hooper. At an early houi in the evening, neighbors and friends of the couple began to arrive at their residence taking them complete ly by surprise, and with their well tilled basket were soon busy preparing a sup per that was fit to grace the table of a king. Everybody gave themselves to the enjoyment of the occasion and the time was pleasantly spent in conversa tion and song. Before supper waa eaten the Rev. J. T. Stones performed a mock marriage ceremony whloh was heartily enjoyed by those present. At the cloee of the evening Rev. J. T. Stones, in be half of the neighbors and friends assem bled, presented the worthy couple with two rocking chairs, to which Mr. Hooper feelingly responded, referring to the time when ho settled in this county eighteen years previous, without money and without friends, but with a hope in Ch,rist. They were also the recipients ot two napkin rings and a lovely card re ceiver presented by Mrs. Adolpb Ring and Mrs. Jos. Herburger ot Red Cloud. All felt that it was good to be there and dispersed to their homes wishing the happy oouple many returns ot the day. It having been brought to our notice that dissatisfaction exists among the farmers regarding tho testing of their beets, we wish to make tho following suggestion: That the farmers procure a chemist, appointed by the Governor or recommonded by Professor Nicholson of the State University, who shall check the tests made by the factory chemist. We would suggest that the farmora also appoint Borne one to seleot the samples from the wagons and cars with our own sampler; that these beets be cut in half and be given to each chemUt so as to avoid any possible error by difference of sample and if the farmers' chemist proves to be accurate and just in bis work we will accept his tests in cose they differ from our own. Died, Octobor 23, 1805, Ida Matilda Lewis, aged ten years, nine months, and thirteen days, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Lewis, Deceased was a bright little girl beloved by all.
