Wiener presented the de partment with a gold headed cane, to be disposed of as they chose, they de cided to give it to the prettiest girl in Red Cloud, and let the people ex press their opinion by voting. Miss May Hummell was the pretty one. The cane brought $33. The Sons of Veterans of Red Cloud have organized a camp. They were mustered in by J. L. Miller. S. E. Cozad was elected as Captain, they or ganized a lodge of 18 charte members, and named it in honor of H. S. Kaley who was one of Red Cloud's energetic and influential men. The S. V. intend to organize a band in the near future. A Card or Tkanks. The officers and members of the Red Cloud Fire Department wish to express their sincere thanks to the ladies of Red Cloud, who so success fully managed and assisted at the dinner and supper, given on Saturday, June Gth, for the benefit of the de partment, also to extend our best wishes and thanks to Mr. Chas.
