with the fine display exhibited there
they placed an order for a tine monu
ment to be erected at Red Cloud ceme
tery in memory of their son. The
monument, when erected, will be one of
the handsomest of its kind this side
of Lincoln.

8 hours work of thoir employore for n
day's work thoy mndo an excoption in

continuo to put in tho usual number of
hours; nlso tho hired girls:
Skction 1 That eight hours shall
constitute a legal day's work for all
classes of mechanics, servents nnd labor
ers through the state of Nebraska, except
those engaged in farm or domestic
labor.
SEcno.f 2. Any officer or officers,
ngent or agents of the stnto of Nebraska
or any municipality therein who shall
openly violate or otherwise evndo the
provisions of this net, shall be deemed
guilty of a malfeasanco in offico and
shall bo suspended by tho govornor or
the head of the department to which
such officer is attached.
Sec. 3. Any employor or corporation
working their employes ovor the time
epecilied in this act shall pay an extra
compensation doublo tho amount per
hour as paid for previous hours.
Sec. 4. Any parties contracting with
state of Nebraska, or any such corpora
tion or private employers who shall fail
to comply with or secretly or evade tho
povisions hereof, by exacting or requir
ing more hours of labor for the compen
sation agreed to be paid per day than is
herein fixed nnd provided for, shall on
conviction thereof, bo deemed guiltv of
misdemeanor, and be punished by n tine
of not less than live hundred dollars
($500) nor more than one thousand dol
lars. And nil acts or parts of acts incon
sistent with this act aro hereby repealed.
